About Sardis
Sardis was a separate municipality until its amalgamation with Chilliwack in 1980, and the unified courthouse at 46085 Yale Road now serves one of BC's fastest-growing cities. The courthouse carries the name of the historic Yale Road — the old wagon route that connected Fraser Canyon communities during the gold rush era, first bringing settlers and, with them, the need for formal legal order. The Chilliwack/Sardis area is the traditional territory of the Stó:lō people, and the courts here have been the venue for some of the most significant Stó:lō rights and title cases in BC history. BC Supreme Court divorce and property division matters are heard at the New Westminster Law Courts.
